Trading Standards – Safeguarding webinar 18th April

Date: Wednesday, 03rd Apr 2024 | Category: General News

Every three months Trading Standards along with an agency/organisation deliver a webinar on a safeguarding related topic. The next session will take place on Thursday 18 April at 10:00AM, in partnership with Thames Valley Police. This will cover scams, doorstep crime and courier fraud. These are all issues which have an influence on SOC and the resilience of residents.

All webinars have subtitles and a live BSL interpreter. Trading Standards are keen that they reach as many people as possible (especially those who are isolated or may be reluctant to engage) and because these are hosted by webinars there are no geographical area restrictions, anyone from Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire etc. can attend.

For those residents without access to the internet the webinar will be broadcast live at several libraries across Surrey and Buckinghamshire.

Materials on offer will include:-

  • Free call blockers (for those susceptible to scam and nuisance phone calls)
  • Free door cameras (for those susceptible to in person crime on the doorstep)
  • Free sticker packs (Scams, No Cold Calling, Pre-shopping legal advice translated into easy read format)
  • Illegal Money Lending (avoiding loan sharks)
  • Scams and Fraud (prevention and protection messaging).
